FUTURE

CTP operates on the assumption that bringing collaborators together in a room and giving them license to experiment together through a structured process creates a unique opportunity for collaborative learning that is invaluable for both artistic and personal growth.

Why consider a CTP Experiment for your crew?

Chalkboard Theatre Project offers a unique opportunity for experimenters to engage in a process-oriented, collaborative production/ experiment. The majority of theatrical opportunities are product-oriented. CTP experiments, although ending with a staged production, is set up to foster and develop collaborative skills, giving participants creative ownership over the whole lifecycle of new play development from start to finish: writing, editing, directing, producing, and performing an original 10 minute play.

Experimenters are given a set of specific roles, arranged into groups, and presented with a series of tasks and challenges. The CTP process is designed to democratize the artistic experience, encouraging structured and collaborative problem solving that not only values, but requires the individual impulses of each person. Theatre is about working together in groups to make a piece of art greater than the sum of its parts, and we believe that this element of theatre has something to offer everyone: the opportunity to have a voice in the process, to develop as a collaborator.
